The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Muizenberg is inviting suitable candidates to apply for the part-time post of administrative officer. This is a 25 hour p.w. (5/8 ths) contract position for one year.
Duties: Handling enquiries and correspondence; assisting with preparation and submission of grant renewals and annual reports; updating of website; organising international workshops, schools and conferences; travel and other logistical arrangements; bookkeeping; administrative and secretarial support;
general office administration.
Requirements: A relevant post-school qualification; at least one year administrative experience; good command of spoken and written English; sound computational, organisational, planning and administrative skills; ability to work independently and/or in a small team; meticulous and thorough; enthusiasm to work in a culturally diverse organisation; willingness to learn; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Recommendations: Familiarity with a university environment.
Commencement of duties: 1 April 2011 or soon as possible thereafter
